Preparing for Surgery

Your procedure ahead. A team bringing your preparation together.

As your plans become real, appointments, financial arrangements, transportation, and recovery preparation need to come together around your life.

Your TRC Care Planner coordinates these details within your selected services, working with you and the relevant practices so you understand the arrangements, outstanding questions, and next steps.

Preparation Built Around Your Procedure—and Your Life.

The preparation you need depends on your procedure or combination of procedures, your surgical team’s requirements, and your circumstances at home.

Your Care Planner brings those practical considerations into your planning. Work responsibilities, family commitments, travel, financial deadlines, and available support all deserve attention before surgery day.

TRC carries the agreed coordination forward. Your surgical team provides your medical instructions and determines whether you are ready to proceed.

What Your TRC Care Planner Coordinates

Appointments & Practice Requirements

We coordinate appointment arrangements, organize administrative requirements communicated by your practice, and follow up on outstanding scheduling or paperwork questions. Your clinical team determines which examinations, tests, and medical preparation you need.

Financial Arrangements

We organize available estimates, identify who receives each payment, and clarify deposits, deadlines, and outstanding financial questions with the relevant organizations. Where financing is involved, we coordinate administrative questions about funding and payment requirements.

Transportation & Practical Support

We bring transportation, companion arrangements, travel, and responsibilities at home into your preparation. Your Care Planner works through the arrangements included in your services, using the requirements provided by your surgical team.

Recovery Preparation

We connect practical recovery arrangements, follow-up scheduling, and selected TRC Recovery & Scar Care services with your preparation. We clarify which supplies or services are already included and which still need to be arranged.

Your preparation follows your individual circumstances. The scope of TRC’s coordination is identified in your selected services.

Your Medical Instructions Should Be Clear Before Surgery.

Your surgical and anesthesia teams provide the directions that apply to your procedure and health. These include instructions about eating and drinking, medicines and supplements, and any required medical preparation.

Share a complete list of medicines and supplements with your clinical team. Do not stop, start, or change them based on this page.

If instructions are missing, unclear, or conflicting, contact the responsible clinical team for clarification. Your Care Planner can coordinate an administrative follow-up, but medical questions require a clinical answer.

Keep your practice’s current instructions accessible. Saving a preparation topic in My TRC does not confirm that a medical requirement has been completed.

Make Room for Recovery in Your Everyday Life.

Preparation includes thinking through what will happen after you leave the facility. Your Care Planner brings the practical arrangements into the conversation before surgery, with medical requirements supplied by your surgical team.

Getting Home & Having Support

Organize the transportation and adult support required by your facility. Identify who will accompany you, how they will receive collection instructions, and what support your clinical team says you need afterward.

Work, Family & Household Responsibilities

Consider responsibilities that may need coverage, including work, children, pets, meals, and household tasks. Your surgeon’s activity restrictions guide the arrangements.

Supplies & Your Recovery Space

Use the recommendations provided by your clinical team to plan supplies and everyday essentials. TRC can clarify where selected products are included in your arrangements and which items remain outstanding.

Travel & Accommodation

If you are having surgery away from home, bring lodging, companion arrangements, and return visits into the plan. Your surgeon determines the medical guidance on travel and remaining nearby.

Recovery preparation is personalized to you and your procedure. A support program does not determine how quickly you will heal.

Know the Arrangements for Surgery Day.

Your Care Planner organizes the practical details communicated by your practice within your selected services. Before the day arrives, the following information should be clear.

Arrival

The confirmed arrival time, facility address, and entrance instructions.

Required documents

Identification, forms, and other items requested by the practice or facility.

Medical instructions

Where to find the current directions from your surgical and anesthesia teams.

Transportation & support

Who will accompany or collect you and the facility’s requirements.

Personal items

What your practice asks you to bring or leave at home.

Contact information

How to reach the practice about arrival questions and the clinical team about medical concerns.

An outstanding detail should remain visible as something to resolve—not be treated as confirmed.

If Something Changes, Bring It to the Right Team.

A Change in Your Health or Medical Preparation

Contact your surgical team directly about illness, new symptoms, medication changes, or difficulty following preparation instructions. They determine whether your instructions or scheduled procedure need to change.

Do not wait for a response through TRC before raising a medical concern with your clinical team.

A Change in Your Arrangements

Contact your Care Planner about transportation, accommodation, financial arrangements, or other practical changes affecting TRC’s coordination. We work through the implications for your selected services and coordinate with the relevant parties.

For a medical emergency, call your local emergency number—911 in the United States. TRC messaging is not an emergency service.

My Preparation Priorities

Keep the details that matter to you together in My TRC.

Turn on a topic to save it to your plan. These selections can form the starting point for a preparation conversation with your Care Planner.

Add a Note — Optional

Add a practical detail or question you would like to revisit. Provide medical history and records through your clinical practice’s designated process.

Your saved note remains available in My TRC.

Questions About Preparing

When should I begin discussing preparation?

You can start as your procedure plans develop. Bringing work, family, travel, support, and financial considerations into the conversation early gives your Care Planner a clearer understanding of what needs coordination. Medical requirements and their timing come from your surgical team.

Can TRC coordinate preparation if I already have a surgeon?

Yes. Your Care Planner can review your existing arrangements and explain which TRC services can be coordinated with your chosen practice. You do not need to restart your surgeon search.

What if I do not have transportation or someone available at home?

Tell your Care Planner and your surgical team before the procedure. TRC can discuss practical options within your selected services, while your clinical team and facility explain their requirements. An arrangement should not be treated as complete until the necessary support is confirmed.

What if my procedure or date changes?

Your clinical team explains any changes to medical preparation. Your Care Planner reviews the effect on TRC-coordinated appointments, financial arrangements, travel, and selected support services. Provider availability and cancellation or rescheduling terms still apply.

How do I save my preparation priorities?

Turn on a topic and follow the existing sign-in steps if needed. A confirmation appears after it is saved to your plan. Turn the topic off to remove it. Contact your Care Planner separately when you want to discuss or request coordination.
