More volume: augmentation
Augmentation adds breast volume with implants or, where appropriate, fat transferred from another body area. Volume, position and balance are different goals; augmentation alone does not correct significant drooping.
What to know
- Fat transfer usually addresses a more modest increase and has different limits from implants. Retained volume varies; further treatment may be needed.
- Implants are not lifetime devices. Review device-specific risks, monitoring and possible future surgery with your surgeon.
- There is no nonsurgical equivalent to augmentation, lift or reduction in this guide. FDA has not cleared or approved noninvasive body-contouring devices to treat breasts.
